Well, I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth yet. Just got busy with life and didn’t make time to write blog posts on this site. We got our new windows all put in in our house and they look super nice. It’s much quieter with better windows to keep out the street noise in our bedroom, I notice, at night.
Some not so great news that I got after a check-up and tests at the doctor was that my blood sugar is high and cholesterol is high. So, I’ve basically got pre-diabetes and if left unchecked I’ll develop diabetes within 5 to 10 years if not before. So, he wants me out walking 30 mins per day at least 5 days per week and to cut out all sugar and starchy foods and cut back on fatty foods. Thankfully, due to Tim being on a healthy diet already we’re well into that mode of eating. So, it’s just a matter of me getting out there to get exercising. Eating less starchy breakfasts of my usual cereal and milk with orange juice and more protein based with some low starch carbs with fruit added in. So, cottage cheese with fruit and a piece of whole grain toast with peanut or almond butter, for instance. We’ve been drinking a lot of smoothies lately too. They are a great way to get nutrition into you without having to notice everything you’re eating i.e. spinach or kale blended up in a drink isn’t too bad.
I was a bit sad when I heard the lead singer of Linkin Park committed suicide. It was a tragedy, for sure. So many lives he touched with his songs, sung with such talent. That was depressing. I felt like writing a post but thought twice because it just would have been another depressing post.
I feel good, in general. Healthy, happy, in good spirits, cheerful, settled in my life. I feel I’m contributing to my family in healthy ways and that I’m needed by them and by my parents and friends.
Life is good.
We have a good life when we manage to live with both satisfied and unsatisfied needs, when we are not obsessed by what is beyond our reach. Kjell Bondevik
